TOURISTS visiting one of Britain’s most beautiful seaside towns are being caught short after the only toilet block in the vicinity was closed and put up for rent by the council.
It has advertised for a tenant to turn the loos into a shop, cafe or other “family-friendly” enterprise.
As part of the deal they must keep open a toilet that is accessible to disabled people. But residents of King Edward’s Bay, right, in Tynemouth are furious at North Tyneside Council’s proposal.
It would mean the nearest public toilets are more than half a mile away in Longsands Beach.
