McLaren mistake gives Lando a bumpy ride on road to glory

- FROM DANIEL MOXON IN LAS VEGAS

LANDO NORRIS admitted to feeling “pretty disappointed" after coming home second in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

He would have felt a whole lot worse when he returned to the McLaren garage to learn his car had failed post-race checks.

Now, Max Verstappen is a genuine threat again after Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri were both disqualified when the FIA discovered too much wear on the underside of their cars.

In both their cases, the margins by which they failed were considerably smaller than half-a-millimetre.

But it was enough for the McLarens to be kicked out, the final verdict coming more than four hours after the conclusion of the race.

Norris said: “We had to do some managing towards the end of the race and now we know it was due to some issues on our car, which have unfortunately resulted in us being disqualified.
