Soft drinks tax cuts sugar intake

THE UK's tax on soft drinks slashed the amount of sugar our children consume by almost a quarter each day in its first year.

A 3g-a-day fall in youngsters' average daily intake and a 5g drop among adults is a direct result of the levy, introduced in 2018, a study shows.
