Safety expert guilty of death by bad driving

A ROAD safety supervisor who smashed into a pedestrian at almost twice the speed limit and carried her 136ft on his car bonnet has been convicted of causing death by careless driving.

Martin Hayward was going as fast as 56mph in his Audi A4 in a 30mph zone when Clare Munn stepped out on to a crossing.

Hayward, a former taxi driver, was “flying” down the road before hitting the 45-year-old, who died at the scene.

The 55-yearold driver overtook several cars before striking Ms Munn at between 40 and 50mph and then carrying her on his bonnet.
