Rising Trott sets sights on England coaching job

JONATHAN TROTT has his eye on more World Cup glory with Afghanistan this summer as part of his ambition to eventually lead England in a global tournament.

Having spent his playing days trying to help England win as many matches as possible before turning to coaching and scouting, it is by vanquishing them that he has continued to make waves.

That 69-run success against England in the 50-over World Cup in Delhi in October helped convince the Afghanistan Cricket Board to extend Trott's contract by a year to include the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean.

Having only beaten Scotland in a World Cup before in 2015, Trott's tenure as head coach saw a further four victories added in India as they just missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
