Raducanu shows true grit to lead British hat-trick

EMMA RADUCANU fought off sickness to launch a hat-trick of British victories at the French Open - and then slammed tournament organisers for favouritism.

The 2021 US Open winner woke up feeling "really sick" and took a five-minute medical time-out before beating China's Wang Xinju in her first outing here since 2022.

After all six Britons lost their first matches last year, Jacob Fearnley and Katie Boulter beat home favourites yesterday to join Raducanu in round two.

It is the first time two British women have won matches here since 2011.

Raducanu, who now faces Iga Swiatek in a glamour clash, won a roller-coaster ride against Wang 7-5 4-6 6-3 without her part-time coach Mark Petchey on Court No.8.

"I'm glad to get us off to a strong start," she said.
