Prevent boss quits after failing to stop Southport killings

THE head of the Prevent counter-terrorism scheme quit after failings over the Southport knife attacks.

Michael Stewart came under fire after a scathing review revealed killer Axel Rudakubana was not consid ered a terror threat, despite being fascinated with the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing and "talking about stabbing people".

Rudakubana, who stabbed three schoolgirls to death and attempted to kill others at a dance class, also researched mass shootings and regularly carried knives.

Concern
