'Post-Brexit success is child's play'
Daily Express
|March 03, 2025
A VILLAGE with fewer than 1,000 residents has become a surprising hot-spot of post-Brexit positivity.
Haverthwaite was first settled by Vikings who then traded across Europe - and today a firm based there is punching well above its weight in flying the flag since Britain left the EU.
The Cumbria village - known for the Lakeside and Haverthwaite heritage railway - is arguably pound-for-pound the UK's most successful settlement.
Playdale Playgrounds which has 100 staff and has built more than 26,000 play sites in 50 countries - has its headquarters in the village.
CEO Barry Leahey said the secret to its success is a "can-do attitude" and in a post-Brexit rallying cry, he added: "Basically the UK has got this because if I can, you can."
