'PM is fuelling migrants frustration'
Daily Express
|July 24, 2025
SIR James Cleverly accused the Prime Minister of fuelling public frustration over the housing of immigrants.
The Shadow Housing Secretary said Sir Keir Starmer had “amplified” the situation by claiming there were lots of homes available for the rising numbers of homeless and asylum seekers.
The senior Conservative MP said: “It’s that kind of disconnect that I think is driving real frustration and that’s what I want to address.”
The former Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary started his new job by visiting a housing project in Hillingdon, North London, with Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, who gave him the role on Tuesday in a reshuffle.
He has been on the backbenches since losing out to her in last year’s leadership contest.
