'Please, come to see...understand what Putin did'

VOLODYMYR Zelensky has urged Donald Trump to visit Ukraine to see the devastation of war first-hand after he described a deadly Russian missile strike as simply a “mistake”.

The US President's response sparked fury in Kyiv after at least 34 people were killed and 117 injured in the north-eastern city of Sumy.

Mr Zelensky said Mr Trump should meet civilians, soldiers and children affected by the three-year conflict before proposing any plans to end it.

The Ukrainian leader made a direct appeal to his US counterpart, saying: “We respect your position but please, before any decisions, any kind of plans for negotiations, come to see the people, civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children, destroyed or dead.

“Come, look, and then let’s move with a plan on how to finish the war.
