Obesity hotspots revealed

ENGLAND'S obesity crisis has been laid bare in research revealing the towns and cities with the fattest residents.

Top of the table is Hull, where 39.4% of people are classified as obese putting them at risk of heart disease, type two diabetes and cancer.

Barnsley, also in Yorkshire, is next at 38.3%, followed by South Tyneside (37.8%) and Medway, Kent (37.2%).

Finishing off the top 10 list of local authorities are North Lincolnshire (37.1%), Doncaster (36.4%), Halton in Cheshire (36%), North Tyneside (35.8%), Blackpool (35.6%) and Sunderland (35.4%).

The 10 places with the slimmest people are all in London.
