NHS staff hit out at 3.3% wages award

Workers will get below-inflation rise

MORE than 1.4 million NHS workers will receive a 3.3% pay rise from April - below the current inflation rate of 3.4%.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting claimed the increase delivers a “real-terms pay rise”, as the Office for Budget Responsibility forecasts inflation of 2.2% for 2026-27.

But health unions reacted with fury. Unison’s Helga Pile said: “Hard-pressed NHS staff will be downright angry at another below-inflation award.”
