Menopause advice will be part of NHS health checks

NHS chiefs are including advice on the menopause in health MOTs to boost awareness of symptoms and help more women get support.

The appointments, offered to people aged 40 to 74 every five years, include blood pressure and cholesterol checks and lifestyle questions.

But they will now also include dedicated questions about menopause.

Around 400,000 women become menopausal every year, but many are unaware the transition can cause low mood, anxiety, aches and weight gain.
