Would-be Liverpool striker has already fallen foul of Anfield club after his Salah clanger

- By Chris McKenna

IF Alexander Isak was hoping to make new friends in the Anfield dressing room soon, he might have gone about it in a different fashion than on Tuesday night.

Seeing as Liverpool star Mo Salah was receiving the PFA Player of the Year trophy, the Egyptian was set to be very much the centre of attention at the fancy ceremony in Manchester.

Instead, Isak released a statement to say his relationship with Newcastle was now broken beyond repair. It pulled every journalist, agent and player in the room back to the sorry saga that has dragged on throughout this summer.

The wantaway Toon striker may have been explaining his absence as he was named in the PFA team of the season but it was strange timing.

Liverpool have made no secret of their desire to sign the Swede and Isak has made no attempt to disguise the fact he wants to join them.
