Keep it quiet, but this may be new Concorde

A QUIET "son of Concorde" that could cross the Atlantic in less than four hours has moved closer to take-off.

NASA's X-59 supersonic research aircraft has begun taxiing tests - the first time the experimental plane has moved under its own power.

Test pilot Nils Larson and the X-59 team of NASA and Lockheed Martin staff completed the jet's first low-speed run at US Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California.
