SEVERN Trent's boss was paid more than the chief executives of eight "similar" bodies combined - an annual average of more than £3.4million, analysis claims.

'Just outrageous!' Highest-paid water chief gets £3.4m

Liv Garfield, head of the water supplier since 2014, received more than the bosses of Ofwat, Scottish Water, Manchester University NHS Trust, National Highways, Network Rail, the Environment Agency, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Cambridge University in the three years to March 2024.

Receiving a three-year average of more than £3.4million in pay, bonuses and shares, she took home £3.9million in 2021-22 and £3.2million in 2022-23.

Ms Garfield is the highest-paid of 10 private water chief executives, according to the Windrush Against Sewage Pollution charity.
