FOR a player who grew up at the other end of the East Lancs Road, Jeremie Frimpong is enjoying plying his trade on Merseyside.

It took him the better part of 16 years from when Liverpool first showed interest in the Dutch youth player to him actually signing on to play at Anfield.

Back then, as a nine-year-old, he picked Manchester City to try to develop himself into a professional footballer.

Once he turned pro, he spent two years in the green half of Glasgow before four more in Germany with Leverkusen.

But when Arne Slot and Liverpool came calling at the end of last season, the versatile defender-cum-midfielder was only too happy to sign for £29.5million to be a Red.
