It's payback time so give annuities a second look

ANNUITIES may have fallen out of favour in recent years, but recently released data suggests that they could well be worth a second look.
The average annuity rate hit 7.65% in September 2025, up nearly 10% on last year, according to the Standard Life Annuity Rates Tracker.
That means that the payback period for a healthy 65-year-old is now just 13 years, the point at which total income exceeds the initial investment.
