A GRIEVING son claims the funeral firm at the centre of a police probe failed to cremate his mother - and he would have received another person's ashes.

Martin Stone said officers told him the cremation of mum Susan, 78, by Legacy Independent Funeral Service never happened and her body had been left at the funeral parlour for seven weeks.

It comes after 35 bodies and the suspected ashes of a number of others were recovered during an investigation of the firm over "concern for care of the deceased".

The probe in the Hull and East Riding areas of East Yorkshire has sparked fears among families if the bodies of their loved ones were cremated, or if they received the wrong ashes.
