'I'd like to make sure I leave the world in a better place'

peace mission... Ukraine driver Peter White

VOLUNTEER Peter White has been hailed a hero after buying, equipping and driving three charity ambulances full of medical supplies from the UK to Ukraine.

Peter, 70, was stung into action by the plight of Ukrainians caught up in Russia’s invasion.

The first vehicle he delivered was later destroyed by a Russian missile, the second is transporting cerebral palsy orphans in Dnipro and the third is in western Ukraine destined for either Kyiv or Odesa.

Peter — who is readying a fourth vehicle at his home in Hartlebury, Worcs — said: “Now that I’m coming to the final chapters of my own life, I’d like to make sure I leave the world in a better place.

“If I can do anything to improve other people’s lives, I’ll do that.”
