'I'd like to help those people who aren't as fortunate as me'

Ann, 85, is leaving money in her will to Macmillan Cancer Support - the charity that has cared for her for more than 10 years

'I'd like to help those people who aren't as fortunate as me'

I was diagnosed with my current cancer in 2013, when my local hospital in Harlow, Essex, found a big sarcoma of a rare type on my ovary.

I'd had breast cancer in 1993 but had been clear for years. To be told I had cancer again was a shock.

I was referred to University College London Hospital, where I had to have my womb removed and part of my bowel too.

Over the following 10 years I underwent chemotherapy, plus two more operations. It's surprising what you can go through if you put your mind to it: I'm naturally a rather positive person, but you do need a lot of positive mental attitude. My mother had cancer and fought it, and I thought, 'If she could do it, then I can as well.'
