McCULLUM'S KEEN ON STOKES RETURN
BRENDON McCULLUM would love Ben Stokes to jump on board his new white-ball bandwagon and help transform England back into world champions.
The New Zealander also gave his full support to white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who has had to pull out of next week’s T20 series against Australia with a recurrence of a calf problem.
Buttler is also a doubt for the five ODIs later this month.
Head coach McCullum, who will now lead England in all formats, wants his Test skipper and “good mate” Stokes to be available for the “really big moments and series”.
He also expects Stokes, 33, to remain in charge of the Test side, which the pair have turned around since 2022, for the foreseeable future.
