HENRY SLADE scored a crucial second-half try as Exeter ended their travel sickness and condemned rock-bottom Newcastle to a seventh straight defeat of the season.

The England centre was on target to help Rob Baxter's men overcome a 14-8 half-time deficit and finally win on the road.

The Chiefs' last Premiership away victory was at Bristol in October 2022 and Baxter was delighted to see his men end their hoodoo.

The Devon club's director of rugby said: "The big thing we targeted was having control of the middle third of the field.

"We actually did that very well and Newcastle didn't get multiple entries into our 22.

"There was a minute of madness where they got a couple of offloads away and bang, that was their points for the game.
