HALFWAY through tonight's episode of HIDDEN TREASURES OF THE NATIONAL TRUST, the first in its new series (BBC2, 9pm), it suddenly occurs to me that I'm watching a lady mending a sofa. Not only that, but I must confess I'm rather enjoying it.
"Do anything much on Friday night, Mike?" I can imagine being asked at the football this weekend.
"Yeah, actually, I did," I'll tell them. "I watched a lady mending a sofa. Not only that, but I must confess I rather enjoyed it."
