GB power operator warns of 'tight days' ahead this winter

ENERGY chiefs say high demand over winter will put supplies under pressure and they may have to buy in electricity from Europe to cover shortfalls.

The National Energy System Operator which runs the electricity network after taking over from National Grid a year ago and National Gas published their outlook after prices increased this month.

Neso said that electricity margins, which reflect the cushion of spare power available to meet customer needs, have risen to their strongest level since 2019.
