Fury at travellers' site set up within 48 hours

TRAVELLERS have sparked an outcry after rapidly turning a privately owned farm site into a caravan park.

An MP accused the group, which arrived in Edenbridge, Kent, on August 22, of carrying out a “cynical” 48-hour raid.

Tory Laura Trott, who represents Sevenoaks, said the travellers moved to set up their site at Seasons Farm before council officers could secure an injunction to halt work.

Sevenoaks District Council quickly gained a High Court order on August 24. But aerial photos taken on Wednesday appeared to show caravans on cleared farmland, divided into several lots by fencing.

Ms Trott, 40, said: “Over the bank holiday weekend, a deliberate and pre-planned breach of planning law took place in our community.
