CHANGED SIDE DROP POINTS

ENZO MARESCA blamed Chelsea's lack of a clinical edge and conceding avoidable goals, as his decision to make seven changes backfired in Baku.

As he has done for all of their Champions League fixtures this season, Maresca made wholesale changes to the XI that beat Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.

But despite taking an early lead, the Blues were stunned by Qarabag whose - at times - superb attacking play, helped by some sloppy defending, ensured this was an awkward encounter for the visitors.

Estevao Willian scored his fourth goal of the season to put Chelsea ahead in the 16th minute.

But Qarabag led by halftime, with Leandro Andrade’s equaliser followed by Marko Jankovic’s penalty. Substitute Alejandro Garnacho fired Chelsea level early in the second half with a fine finish from a tight angle to at least salvage a point.
