Reds supersub Harvey secures a late victory as Alisson shines

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN managed to ground Liverpool’s fighter jets — but Harvey Elliott turned out to be the secret weapon.
The French side’s manager, Luis Enrique, had given that title to the Reds’ rapid frontmen but it was the hosts who seemed on the warpath here.
PSG’s own attackers came up against the seemingly bulletproof Alisson. Then, after Liverpool had survived attack after attack, supersub Elliott came off the bench in the 86th minute. Within a minute and with his first touch, he found the net. An almighty smash and grab.
It was fellow substitute Darwin Nunez who found Elliott out wide. Manager Arne Slot’s changes made the difference.
But PSG and Enrique will wonder how it came to this. Chance after chance squandered. Nobody had pulled the Reds apart like this all season. But every time they breached the Liverpool defence and locked on target, they found the Brazilian goalkeeper as the shield.
