Elderly kept out of towns by confusing parking apps

OLDER drivers are being forced out of town centres as councils scrap cash parking machines in favour of digital apps, experts warn.
Many pensioners find the technology difficult to navigate and have given up the car for shopping trips, fearing they will be fined for non-payment.
An RAC poll of 1,900 motorists found millions have been left struggling after the introduction of mobile phone app-based parking.

Spokesman Rod Dennis said: "While for many a switch to phone-based parking payments poses no problems, our research clearly shows that for others it spells bad news.
