Too many wedding guests? Here's how to withdraw an invitation but remain friends afterwards

If there was any doubt that wedding season was well and truly under way, Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez kicked things off in Venice with a three-day celebration involving 200 guests in June.

Their multi-million pound nuptials may have got the world talking, but the OTT celebration felt old-fashioned, like an ostentatious display of wealth from a former age.

Instead, it was the low-key ceremony enjoyed by pop star Charli XCX and The 1975 drummer George Daniel at an East London town hall that seems more on trend.

The Brat singer and musician, who said their vows in front of around 20 friends and family, are part of a growing craze for marrying in intimate ceremonies dubbed "micro weddings" (searches for this have increased by 22%, says bridal website hitched.co.uk).

But some engaged couples are taking it even further by making their planned nuptials even smaller - Google searches for "how to uninvite from wedding" have increased by over 200% recently.

While choosing who not to invite can be stressful enough, deciding to cut the guest list further after the invitations have been sent out is an even stickier situation.
