Dan's final message is shared with MPs

THE family of a former Army lance corporal who chartered a private flight to Switzerland for an assisted death has shared his final message with MPs.

Dan Tuckley died in 2022 aged 46, months after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of kidney cancer.

The letter, which he left for family and friends, reads: “You should know that I went out on my own terms, and it was my own decision, one of the only things I've had control over in the past weeks.”

Dan, from Derby, visited hospital in July 2022 with what he thought was a pulled muscle after a gym session.

He was instead diagnosed with cancer. His condition deteriorated rapidly until he could no longer eat, digest food or speak easily.
