Car break-in epidemic hits 540 every day

CAR break-ins are rocketing – with over £60million of goods stolen from vehicles in 540 thefts every average day, figures reveal

The whopping 197,021 total vehicle break-ins recorded in 2022 was an 8% rise from the 181,936 thefts reported in 2021.

There was also a 27% increase in the value of stolen items, as crooks targeted mobile phones and laptops left in cars.

Previously attractive items, such as stereos and sat-navs, are no longer considered by crooks to be valuable or easy enough to steal, the findings indicate.

Avoidable
