CAN GRAYSON LIFT THE AI DOOM?

WHENEVER I read these days about the growth of artificial intelligence, and how the robots are getting smarter by the hour, the voice of a Dad’s Army legend pops into my head.

No, it’s not Corporal Jones again, with his cry of: “They don't like it up ‘em!” (although I don’t suppose the robots do like it up ‘em). This time it’s the voice of Private Frazer. "We're doomed!” I hear the platoon's eternal pessimist exclaim, as I ponder what lies ahead for us humans. “Doomed, I tell you.”

If it’s any consolation, I don't really think we are. But it’s obvious our lives will be increasingly Al-driven in countless respects, not all of which are a cause for celebration.
