Breakthrough test for bowel cancer 'over 90% accurate'

A NEW method of detecting bowel cancer can predict which high-risk people will develop the disease with more than 90% accuracy, experts say.

The study - funded by Cancer Research UK - could lead to a blood test that tells doctors which patients with inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's and ulcerative colitis are more likely to get cancer in the next five years.

IBD patients are known to have an increased chance of bowel cancer - but not all will develop it.
