Big freeze is king of the castle
Daily Express
|January 11, 2024
A CRISP sun rose over an English castle yesterday morning. But forget knights of old - we'd be better off bracing for nights of cold.
Forecasters are warning Britain is in for more sub-zero night-time temperatures and icy mornings as the "polar blast" from Northern Europe continues.
So frosty images like this one, at Arundel Castle, West Sussex, are likely to be repeated over the next few days and next week too.
The coldest overnight temperature was -11.1C in Aviemore, freezing Scotland. But the weather hit areas across the UK.
Frost covered the fens near Ely, Cambs, and there was enough in Godalming, Surrey, to write wintry messages on car windscreens.
