BBC sorry for airing Tourette man's racial slur outburst TWICE
Daily Express
|February 24, 2026
BUNGLING BBC bosses have had to apologise twice after failing to edit out an N-word outburst at the Baftas.
The racial slur was shouted out by Tourette's sufferer John Davidson at black actors Delroy Lindo and Michael B Jordan as they presented a prize on Sunday.
But despite a two-hour time delay, the offending word targeting the Sinners stars was not cut from the BBC One coverage.
After the incident, the BBC said sorry for "any offence caused by the language heard" but stopped short of apologising for not removing the comment. Yesterday, bosses pulled the ceremony from iPlayer - and issued a second apology.
A BBC spokesman said: "Some viewers may have heard strong and offensive language during the Bafta Film Awards. We apologise this was not edited out prior to broadcast and it will now be removed from the version on iPlayer." Last night Bafta also apologised after some guests felt the organisation had made a gross failing.
Briton Robert Aramayo, 33, won best actor for his performance in I Swear, which was based on Mr Davidson's life.
