Back to school ...and to more Kyiv bombings

IT’S a warm sunny morning and the streets are filled with cute little kids heading back to school. Boys in bow ties, girls wearing ribbons, accompanied by parents or grandparents.

Then the air raid sirens go off, music, festivities and the singing from a nearby school abruptly stop and families begin to disperse.

They are the lucky ones. Tens of thousands of other Ukrainian families have had their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews taken to Russia or continue to live under occupation in their own country.

The summer holidays were really not much rest anyway.
