Asiata aims to be Ed boy at Leigh reunion

HULL'S John Asiata says it will be “pretty cool” taking on old side Leigh tonight — even if he will have to get out of the way of fierce hitter Edwin Ipape.

Combative Australian- born loose forward Asiata became a cult hero in three seasons with the Leopards, leading them to promotion, a first Challenge Cup in 52 years and two play-off campaigns.

But he packed all that in for a lucrative deal at Hull, where he has enjoyed a decent start.

The East Yorkshire club, who managed just three Super League wins last season, have already prospered at Catalans Dragons and Huddersfield to offer encouraging signs.
