As Sir Alan is knighted, he says Labour has let payouts to postmasters 'come to a standstill'

NEWLY knighted Post Office campaigner Sir Alan Bates has revealed the Labour Government has yet to contact sub-postmasters over the Horizon IT scandal.

He said compensation schemes have come to a "standstill" and were a "mess".

Sir Alan, 70, who founded the Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance, is one of more than 550 claimants who have brought legal action against the Post Office.

More than 700 sub-postmasters were prosecuted by it and given criminal convictions between 1999 and 2015, as Fujitsu's faulty Horizon IT system made branch money go missing.
