As heartwarming today as it's always been

IT'S one of Britain's most fondly remembered TV adverts - and now Hovis has recreated its Boy On The Bike, with its young star all grown up to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The original ad of the youngster pushing his bread-laden bicycle up Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, Dorset, aired in October 1973 - and helped launch the career of its director Sir Ridley Scott.

Set in post-war Britain, the camera watches as the boy approaches the top of the hill, pushing his bike over the cobbles of the steep slope for the final delivery of his round - before he free-wheels back down.
