Mentality monster Trent puts personal frustration aside in pursuit of glory

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD admits he is on a roller-coaster ride of resilience he hopes will finish with him becoming a European champion.

Alexander-Arnold has had more ups and downs than most in the past month at Euro 2024.

The England player started the first two group games in an experimental midfield role alongside Declan Rice.

But when that experiment failed, he found himself dropped and facing the possibility of watching the rest of the tournament from the sidelines.

Even manager Gareth Southgate admitted Alexander-Arnold feared he was done.

But few things in life are as fickle as football and Alexander-Arnold went from zero to hero when he scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out win against Switzerland in Saturday's quarter-final.

England are now just two more wins from footballing immortality and Alexander-Arnold acknowledges the team should always come first.
