£9billion share buyback as profits rocket at Rolls-Royce

ROLLS-ROYCE will return billions to shareholders over the next two years after profits soared nearly 40% to a record £3.5billion.

The aerospace titan revealed plans for a £7bn to £9bn multiyear share buyback through to 2028, just as it completes a £1bn package over the last year. Up to £2.5bn of the new round is expected to be delivered during 2026.

The FTSE 100 darling - whose fortunes have been turned around under chief executive Tufan Erginbilgic, also declared a final dividend of 5p a share.

This takes the total for the year to 9.5p, meaning around 32% of post-tax profit was dished out to shareholders.

Yesterday’s bumper results also showed revenue jumped 14%.
