Success for first team in away day run pursuit
Crewe Chronicle
|June 18, 2025
BOTH of Crewe cricket Club's Saturday teams fared well with impressive League wins.
The first team travelled to Wedgewoods and having won the toss, decided to take the field. Opening bowlers Ollie Jarvis, with his usual tightness, coupled with captain Cal Bacon's superb 4 for 39 gave Crewe the required early breakthrough.
Struggling at 42 for 5, Wedgewood’s Usman Saleem (45) and Ranzam Mohammed (22) in a 52 run partnership, put their team back on the road to a respectable target.
After Usman fell to Rory Kalnins’ (1-8) offies, wickets fell regularly to top wicket-taker Ben Jarvis (3-29) and reliable Faisal Mahmood (2-25).
Only Fahsal Hussein (16) and Tom Smith(15) then made inroads into their final all-out score of 141.
Although losing Nathan Twiddle early, a telling first wicket partnership of 108 between Ollie Jarvis (50 NO) and dependable opener Rory Kalnins (51) broke the back of Crewe's chase. Keeper Ryan Brid-don (10NO) joined Ollie to see the game to its conclusion with many overs left.
