A NEW theatre company has burst on to the local arts scene in style after its debut musical production played to packed houses at Crewe's Lyceum Theatre.

- BY JONATHAN WHITE

Show Ready Productions, founded by Benjamin Stubbs, Caroline Coles and Adam Whitehead, made an unforgettable first impression with the feelgood musical comedy The Wedding Singer.

Loosely based on the hit 1998 film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, the show transported audiences to New Jersey in 1985.

Directed by Benjamin Stubbs and Caroline Coles, the cast delivered a full-throttle performance from the opening number to the final curtain call.

Under the musical direction of Adam Whitehead, the soundtrack sounded slick and polished.

Kieran Picken impressed in the demanding lead role of Robbie while Dom Burdin and Archer Armstrong brought plenty of laughs as scene-stealing duo Sammy and George.
