Lampard: 'As clear a penalty as you'll see'
Coventry Telegraph
|December 01, 2025
FRANK Lampard praised his Coventry City players for "keeping their heads" amid the disappointment of being denied a penalty that would have got them back on level terms after going behind in their third consecutive home game.
The Sky Blues felt they should have had the opportunity to pull level shortly after Charlton’s 13th minute score when Milan van Ewijk appeared to be fouled by fullback Amari'i Bell in the box in what the City boss called “as clear a penalty as you'll see”.
The decision by referee David Webb had no bearing on the final outcome as Josh Eccles and Ellis Simms scored before the break, and then Simms bagged Coventry's third midway through the second half to make it 11 wins from 12 Championship games.
