FAMILY'S DESPERATE BID FOR NEW LAW AFTER TRAGIC LOSS

THOUSANDS of people have backed a Coventry family’s campaign for a law change following their tragic loss.

The Coventry Telegraph reported that Gemma and Tom Button and their children are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their son - Alyx.

Alyx Sherman, Gemma’s son and Tom's step son, tragically took his own life and was found in his flat in Coventry. Only hours previously had he begged for help - and they claim his pleas fell on deaf ears.

They say a catalogue of errors within the health system led to the 21-year-old taking his own life. With his death still so raw and trying to come to terms with their loss, the couple want to force a change in the law - called Alyx’s Law.

They say their campaign will make sure no-one in crisis is ever left to die waiting for help.
