NEARLY 3,000 asylum seekers and refugees are currently living in Coventry, new figures have revealed.

- By JASPREET KAUR News Reporter

Data from the Home Office shows that the city ranks sixth in the UK for new arrivals, including those from Ukraine and Afghanistan.

We uncovered that around 145 Afghan migrants have settled in Coventry over the past year, bringing the total number living in the city to 527. During the same period, 148 people fleeing Ukraine have also arrived.

With a total of 681 Ukrainian refugees now settled in Coventry, many arrived through the Homes for Ukraine initiative launched in 2022. It provides those fleeing Ukraine with the opportunity to stay with families across the country while receiving housing and help with daily living.
