Brakes into FA Trophy third round as sexist comment KOs Sphinx game
Coventry Telegraph
|November 17, 2025
LEAMINGTON put their dismal league form behind them to book a hard-fought place in the third round of the FA Trophy courtesy of a 2-0 victory at home to Maidenhead United.
The National League North side, who have slipped to the foot of the table, took a tenth minute lead against their Southern counterparts when Ewan Williams slotted home following good work from Dan Meredith and Tim Berridge.
The latter doubled the lead just before the hour and the Brakes held on for the win despite both Liam Dulson and Corie Andrews forcing decent saves from on loan keeper Rogan Ravenhill.
Sexist comments from a spectator saw Coventry Sphinx's match with AFC Rushden & Diamonds abandoned at halftime with the Northamptonshire side leading 1-0.
