Major coup for resort as award-winning chef confirms his move to iconic hotel

AWARD-WINNING chef and restaurateur Adam Handling is set to move his pioneering Cornish restaurant, Ugly Butterfly, to Newquay next month.

The Scottish chef opened Ugly Butterfly at the Carbis Bay Hotel in 2021 and served food at the G7 Summit when the heads of states of countries including the USA, France, Japan and Germany descended on Cornwall.

Two years ago, the seaside restaurant near St Ives was voted one of the best in the UK by the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller. But, after four years, he has announced that his time at the hotel had come to an end.

Instead, Ugly Butterfly 2.0 will open its doors at the iconic five-star hotel, The Headland, in Newquay on July 9.

"As one door closes, another one opens - and this Ugly Butterfly 2.0 is a more fitting home for our most sustainable brand," Adam said.

"We are taking this situation in an extremely positive light, building on what Ugly Butterfly has achieved and focusing on what we need to do to be even better.
