Leaders' fantasies put the rest of us in peril

So when former defence secretary Ben Wallace spoke out last week it was strong, refreshing but scary.

He was reported, in the context of America threatening to walk away from Ukraine, to have described the American administration as a redneck team of Walter Mittys, media pundits and real estate salesmen who fail to understand the world we live in. They, he said, will strengthen the Kremlin, weaken the West and embolden Iran and China.
